Daring Duffer Series - Fly One

I have had the pleasure of photographing a number of flies for our good friend Stefan Thorsen, the daringduffer. He asked me to post some of his flies and he would comment on them, name them, pattern particulars, etc. I'll roll out the collection in a series and wait for Stefan to add his comments. They are a pleasure to see and I appreciate him sharing these with us.

Oh boy! If this pattern is representative, this is really gonna be good. I just love the colors on this, and the hackling style reminds me of Mssr. Leisenring's work.

Wow! What a wonderfully beautiful pattern! You have achieved a body shape that I really like to see on patterns such as this! And the ribbing looks as if it's flouresent! Very nice effect and I'll bet this pattern looks dynamite when it's well soaked! It just has to. It looks so great in W.'s photograph.

A few weeks ago, after several months of music only, I returned to my tying vice. I also tried to catch up on the forum and saw several remarkable flies which made me think of how intimidating these can be for beginners and duffers. One night, after tying a few flies, I decided to send them to William so that he could take a photo of a couple of them (if he could find some time to do it), and post these on the forum. My aim was to show more ordinary flies. I also included a couple of earlier tyings. These are not my best efforts and not my worst either. Most of them are "exercise flies", tied to try something out. I don't remember all details but will try to comment from my Random Access Memory. I also want to thank my mother and my father, my therapist and my dentist, the lovely audience, and, last and not least, WILLIAM, who made this possible.
(Almost forgot the barber, the bartender and the bus driver).

When I have recovered from the flu, I will get back to this.

Stefan - could you giveaway recipe? I am curious to know what hook this is tyed on. It reminds me of one Donald showed us at one point. Nice long shank Up-eyed hook. Makes for a nice profile.
