Re: Another CFR Fly
I received the flies yesterday, which accompanied me to the organizing meeting in Pasadena, CA. I also took along 2 rods (TFO, Orvis, Wright/McGill), 2 reels (Montana fly company & Allen fly company) and about 200 other flies. The one item that keep getting the comments were the Orange and Greenwell. Thank you so very much.

Kelly ~ I'm certain that Charlie is exhibiting at the Fly Tying Symposium in Somerset, NJ this weekend and may well have been very busy getting ready for last several days. I think he runs pretty much of a one man show with his business, and will get around to your e-mail sooner or later. I'm pretty sure that his website (Google "Collins Hackle Farm") shows pricing somewhere if you navigate around it a bit. From my personal experience, buying both directly from him at a show or through a distributor such as Great Feathers, his prices are extremely reasonable (less than $30 for a set that includes both saddle and cape).

Looked at the streamer site and was curious. Do you guys really fish those flies or are they art pieces, just to me they are art and would ever see the water.

I was thinking the same thing..... The Streamers on that site make my Bunny Leaches look like blood sucking worms...

Re: Another CFR Fly
Ariel - Almost every streamer I tye is intended to be fished. The few exception are tyed with very rare feathers (Bali Duck Feathers/aka - baikal teal/yanosh) for instance http://www.flytyingforum.com/pattern4462.html), or a few that were intended to be framed from the start (http://www.flytyingforum.com/pattern4528.html or http://www.flytyingforum.com/pattern6836.html). The rest get lumped into my fly boxes and eventually go for a swim. I enjoy seeing how the flies behave in the water. I've had a few patterns that took many field tests to get the fly to swim correctly (bucktails for instance). All part of the fun.

Re: Another CFR Fly
Ariel, all the flies i have at that site will never be fished.......but i feel 99% of the flies on that site WILL be. That's what they're tyed for. That doesn't always mean they will be cast.....many are just trolled.....on still water, behind a boat. The bigger and heavier they are.....the more likely they will be trolled and not cast. But fishin's fishin'.
