DANG!!!!!!!!!!! i'm happier than a sissy in a boys camp...........Kelly, if you hadn't posted that cool fly of yours...........i may never have stumbled up on this fly i just did. The bent hook fly came out WAYYY Cool. Now i have 6 flies i need to photograph for the Steelie/Salmon fly flymphs thread.........but anyway.....
i have no idea how the dang thing would fish.............but it sure "Looks" cool.
AND, it's a classic example of what i was "thinking" with the idea for the thread itself. i used some kinna pink synthetic braid/chenille sparkle stuff for an extended tag..........from the bend to the spot where the "bending' begins. Then i tye in this real nice orange mallard feather to palmer thru the rest of the body and serve as a collar as well...........got it? Oh, and i tucked the tip of the feather underneath the tag and straped it in too. Then i realize i got no tail (and this is the "example" of fixing a mistake).........so, do i take off the Mallard feather and go back and put the tail on.......HELL no. i just cut me a few strands of some light purple/blue/pink florescent KF and reach up and in there, over the top and underneath the Mallard feather and strap in the tail.
Then i look around and find a travel box of some beautiful dubbing from Mad River which is Hare's Ear & antron in 12 different colors...........so i grab the pink/greyish stuff and do a body, then palmer the Mallard feather thru it and add a couple turns for a collar, and BINGO! DONE DEAL....fairly decent orange head and i'm home free. GOTTA love it when it goes that smouvve..........

THANKX for postin' that fly on 12-28-11
